About me
HI, I'M ANNIKA
I’m a Software Engineering student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I’m originally from Centennial, Colorado, and I’ve always been passionate about how technology can make everyday life more efficient and connected.
A fun fact about me is that I was recruited and committed to be a Division I swimmer here at Cal Poly! I had been swimming competitively for over 10 years and was committed up until the swimming program was unfortunately cut the summer before I started college. While the change was unexpected, swimming is still a huge part of my life. Being a competitive swimmer taught me how to find my drive, create motivation, and stay consistent—traits that I have carried with me into my college career and software engineering journey.
I also understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-play balance. When I’m not coding, you’ll usually find me outside—at the gym, swimming, tanning, or studying in the sunshine. I also love getting involved in my community and finding ways to give back.
Recently, I stepped into the role of Director of Diversity and Outreach for WISH (Women Involved in Software and Hardware). In this position, I am organizing and planning STEM-related activities with local elementary school students. Our programs officially kick off this fall semester, and I am super excited to get started!
